Argosy
Bucksburn

Photos and information courtesy Bill Reid.
The Argosy Dance Hall-cum-cinema had a conversion twice a
week, Tuesday and Sundays. The projectionists were George Rae and Jack
Begg who were also the two projectionists at the News Theatre in
Diamond Street.
The Argosy belonged to a Baillie Burns, who had other such places in the
northeast. The building still exists at Bucksburn Fountain although it has been
closed for some years after being a Bingo Club.
The entrance is the
small 'brown wooden' doorway with the dustbins outside. The other photo is of
the rear of the building seen from the track that goes up to Blacksmith's
Croft Mobile Home Site, which is built on the side of the old Adament
Granite Quarry.
